My First Pau Goreng Sambal - Pau Goreng Sambal Superman

So penat la Kal El menggentel pau sambal ni semalaman dari pukul 8 sampaila pukul 11:30 malam. Bila nak digoreng keesokkan harinya semuanya melekat dan rasanya huk ala.... buruk gila. Yang herannya resipi ni suruh campur minyak, macam buat roti canai plak. Akhirnya... masuk ke tong sampah semuanya!

Pau Goreng Sambal Versi 1 yang Tak Jadi - Kesilapan Teknikal

Tapi Kal El tak putus asa. Beberapa hari lepas tu Ka'Ngah datang rumah dan Kal El minta resipi dari dia. Dah lama Ka'ngah tak buat Pau Goreng Sambal ni.

Happynye! Di Goreng Sedikit dan Sedia untuk Di Frozenkan

Resipi Ka'ngah seperti biasa menjadi dan amat sedap sekali. Rupa-rupanya kalau nak simpan dalam fridge/freezer buat jadi frozen food kene la di goreng sedikit dulu... kalau tak, alamatnya dalam tong sampah la perginya... melekat dan adunan pau tu pun rosak.

Sambalnya Kal El guna yang Kal El masak sehari sebelumnya (lihat entry sebelum ni). Macamana nak buat adunan pau? Senang bangat!

Keratan Rentas Pau Goreng Sambal yang Siap Di Goreng... Yum! Yum!

Here's how:
(see, gula mesti ada hehehe) kemudian gaulkan....
Tambah sedikit air kalau perlu.
Dah sebati bulat-bulatkan adunan tadi. This is the hard part sebab akan melekat-lekat.
Nak makan terus goreng la sampai masak... jangan hangus plak ek.

Huhuhuhu terlapar plak tengok masakan sendiri!

My First Sambal Tumis - Sambal Tumis Superman

Kal El tak suka kalau sambal tumis cair apatah lagi kalau tak pedas. Dah menjadi tradisi keluarge belah mummy kalau masak pasti letak gula (bukan, kami bukan orang Kelantan tapi asal dari Kukup, Pontian), so sambal tumis ni pedas-pedas manis. (Patut la ada Kencing Manis ek?)

Takut Tengok Minyak Meladung? Boleh Buang...Jangan Risau...

Kal El plan nak buat Pau Sambal Goreng menggunakan sambal tumis ni. Nak buat? Rupa-rupanya senang je buat sambal tumis. Tidak ler Kal El tau selama ni. Kalau tau senang macam ni dah lama Kal El cuba. Thank you Ka'ngah for the recipe. Macam-macam lagi nak cuba ni. Ok la boleh la tahan sedap (huhu puji diri sendiri... ye la KN tak makan pedas so dia tak dapat ler rasa dan memuji makanan Superman dia ni kan heheeh)

Dengan Lighting yang Betul -
Beginilah Warna Sambal Tumis Superman yang dah Masak

Here's how to cook this sambal tumis.
Cili kering (buang biji, sikit sikit ada takpe - takut perut bocor nanti kalau tak buang tapi kalau dah dasar pemalas, tak dapek Kal El nak tolong) - kemudian rebuskan cili kering tu untuk bersihkannya. Tos.
Bawang merah - jangan guna bawang bombay ek
Bawang putih

Kalau kaler dia dah agak gelap dari asalnya (bukan gelap hangus ek) maka dah masak ler... make sure masak betul kang sakit perut kang!

Siap! makan dengan roti pun sodap... buat sambal nasi lemak lagi sodap... buat pau goreng sambal pun lagi sodap... makan dengan nasi letak telur rebus pun sodap.....

p/s kalau tertanya-tanya kenapa tak letak ikan bilis... 1. Kal El tak makan ikan 2. sambal tumis ni memang kosong intentionally...

Ok la... Kal EL namakan sambal tumis ni Sambal Tumis Superman... boleh simpan dalam freezer buat dimakan lain kali... heheh untuk orang bujang especially! Selamat mencuba! Ada berani?

Happy Birthday Sapit!

Nandos KLCC Bersama Intan

KN and I ngan my sister in law Intan were at Nandos KLCC for dinner one day. I love going to Nandos for their tasty Peri-peri sauce - of course yang paling sedap is their Garlic Sauce and the Hot Flaming Sauce.
Per-peri Sausage

Since Intan was on diet, she ordered the Peri-peri Sausage - not bad tasting and filling too (according to her lah, my tummy don't think so).

1/4 Chicken with Coleslaw and Fries

I of course ordered the Falimg Hot 1/4 Chicken with Fries and Coleslaw as the side dishes - memang every time datang sini ini lah yang Kal El akan order plus dashes of their yummy Peri-peri sauce. Nasib baik lah dorang letak sebotol kat situ (one time they sorta kedekut with the sauce and I ended up not going to Nando's anymore tapi now dah ok dah) Usually I would order Rice as the sideline tapi hari tu entah kenapa teringin makan fries plak, takmo makan nasi kot - diet la konon. This dish came in a set; a bowl of Mushroom soup and a glass of carbonated (from the fountain, refillable) drink. Tapi kan cakap pasal refillable drinks kat Nando's ni, mana-mana Nando's Kal El pegi memang susah gila nak mintak refil air dia.

CHicken Kebab with Rice and Potato Salad

KN on the other hand had the Chicken Kebab with 2 Sidelines. Here KN ordered Rice and Potato Salad as the sidelines. Forgot to ask KN whether it was nice or otherwise.

Here's a photo of the Peri-peri sauce I love so much... siap beli bawak balik tu tapi tak tau nak makan ngan apa pulak.. hehehe.

The Mirrors

The tagline - There is Evil on the Other Side attracted KN and I to download this movie; The Mirrors by Kiefer Sutherland- yet to be released in Malaysia. A Horror/thriller aimed at increasing the testosterone level of the viewers but I think failed to do so (in my case) - I just couldn't find anything good enough to scare my wits off off me anymore.

Only towards the end the movie became more interesting otherwise dull and boring but we kept watching as some scenes were worth watching - the gory ways some of the characters had been killed by the evil mirror - a rather nice concept but the storyline was a little slow and dragging.

One of my Favorite Scenes - Love the Goriness not the Naked Body

The plot goes around an ex-cop who was targeted by the evil mirrors in an old posh departmental store that was burnt down - this ex cop was the night shift guard at this torn down place and soon became obsessed with the mirrors in the store (which had not been destroyed somehow in the fire - dah namanya evil kan)

The Korean Sister - Geoul Sokeuro

I rate the movie Good but it could have been better. Mirrors is actually the U.S. remake of 2003 Korean horror movie Geoul Sokeuro, which was better and scarier (from what I read in the Internet - haven't seen the original yet).

Home Town Yong Tau Foo @ Wangsa Maju

This Yong Tau Foo isn;t like what KN and I used to have kat Pasar Malam - so far the best Yong Tau Foo kat pasar malam Melawati - ada sorang abang dekat ngan gerai popia - he's been there since I was a kid and kuah dia... perghhh sedap gila babas.

Home Town Yong Tau Foo ni serves a more Chinese variety - banyak dalam menunya yang memang style Chinese. Walaupun begitu, knowing the Chinese memang selalu suka makan pelik gak bila menu dia agak limited. We were so used to having certain dishes masa makan Yong Tau Foo dan bila takde pelik lak rasanya.

What I like most is the sambal - again, kalau tak kedekut (Maksudnya letak la semangkuk ke, sebotol ke) maka Kal El akan memuji lah. I like the brown sauce - memang sedap - pure Chinese styled. This brown sauce, campur sket ngan Chilli sauce Yong Tau Foo ni sebenarnya amat sedap dimakan dengan nasi - try it and you'll agree. Takde yang peliknya makan ngan nasi macam Kal El makan satay ngan nasi, sedap wooo!

You can order your fish cakes and what not kat sini samada bergoreng atau basah (dengan sup). We had both types plus airnya order lah Chinese Tea - memang murah dan good for your health (look who's talking lah). Whatever it is, with the simple Chinese restaurant setting at Home Town Yong Tau Foo, don't be fooled because the bill could be tremendously surprising (depending on what and how many pieces you ordered la kan - maka tepuk la perut tanya la selera - perut sendiri jangan perut orang lain plak - dan jangan lupa check la waller tu dulu...)

Soul's Code

Since Kal El is on long MC maka banyak lah movies yang Kal El dan KN tengok lately ni. Dan apa lagi Kal El's favourite cerita hantu/seram/thriller. One of those yang Kal El sempat tengok was Thai's Souls's Code. This 2007 movie is showing soon kat Malaysian cinemas I think - nampak gazzette dia shown kat TGV KLCC recently.

The Soul's Code is about a call girl being murdered by her ex-boyfriend's current girlfriend. Even though I could guess who the murderer was from the middle of the movie, Soul's Code was fun to watch. Unfortunately the focus was not really on the ghost but more on the CSI like investigation. The ghost (Ning - huhuh bukan Ning Baizura ha...a.k.a the call girl) was trying to help the Hero, a DSI (Department of Special Investigation Thailand to solve the case, leading him from one answer to another sampailah tertangkapnya the actual killer. Hantu dia boleh la tahan menakutkan ropanya tapi like I said dia tak banyak buat appearance. So sad but that's the truth.

The movie wasn't so directly pointing towards the murderer but Prae (the current girlfriend to singer Cee had framed Cee and he got killed (by Prae also) in the end. I wish the movie was a little more scarry (as the trailer focused on the ghost) but the storyline wasn't at all that bad. Having bought a pirated copy (again heheheh) the Malay subtitles was just intolerable but fortunately the English subtitle was comprehendable. Not perfect but goog enough to understand.

The hero (Detective Khan) like KN said was cacat looking - perhaps because of his small, macam tak boleh bukak punya mata huhuh I don't know why he was called the Thai Brad Pitt here. Definitely not for his looks la hehehe jahatnya Kal El ni kan?

Here's the trailer:

Old Town White Coffee @ Ampang Park

We were at Old Town White Coffee Ampang Park recently. After having tried their Nasi Lemak kat Alpha Angle Wangsa Maju, I wanted to try more - ahahaha makan je kan? This time we had dinner at their open air seats on a drizzling evening - sejuk but very pleasant, what more with their delicious Hazelnut Coffee!

French Toast

Garlic Bread

For starters we had the French Toast and Garlic Bread - not bad tapi French Toast dia after awhile muak la pulak sebab inside ada sekaya... hmm or was ir peanut butter... lupa plak buat delicious la. Garlic bread dia nice looking but I think it was too fluffy - I personally like my garlic bread crispy on a French loaf.

Spring/NIssin Noodle with Chicken Ham and Egg

Spring/Nissin Noodle with Sausage and Egg

For mains KN had the Spring/Nissin Noodles with Chicken Ham and Egg while I had the Spring/Nissin Noodles with Sausage and Egg. Hmmm boleh tahan but it tasted like Chicken flavoured Maggie Mee je heheh.

Iced Cham

Hazelnut Coffee

What I enjoyed most was the Hazelnut Coffee - memang superb I tell you. KN what else, kalau pi kopitiam mesti order Iced Cham dia tu... dia just refuse to try anything else. The next time I come here I want to try their Nanyang Memorably Coffee and perhaps their Chicken Curry rice. Looks yummy on the menu.

Egg and Bacon in Croissant

Our of idea again on what to have for dinner so we headed to Dunkin Donuts at Petronas Bukit Antarabangsa for our usual sandwich set. This time KN had the Egg and Bacon in Croissant while I had the Sliced Chicken also in Crossant.

Sliced Chicken in Croissant

The Delicious Cup of Coffee

Of course the sandwich comes with donut and a delicious cup of coffee. Yummy - always a life saver!

Tali Pocong Perawan

Another movie KN and I watched recently was Tali Pocong Perawan. We bought this DVD quite a while ago but did not watch it until I was feeling a little better last Friday night. Overall storyline boleh la tahan. A little simple throughout and confusing towards the end but all questions answered at the end scene.

I personally think that the movie got its focus on the wrong things - macam citer porn pun ada. With a perverted main character the concept of Tali Pocong Perawan however is rather interesting and original. I wonder if it is true. To me the actors and actreses in the movie aren't strong enough to leave a mark or an after effect a ghot movie should have on its viewers. The actors and actresses were weak perhaps beacause the script was weak too.

What I like is the appearances of the pocong at unexpected places as part of the props. She appeared indirectly as part of a background and I liked that. There were some points in the movie that left me giggling funny - maybe it was intentional of the movie makers to make viewers laugh?

From a site on the Internet, an actual ghostly appearance was seen in one of the behind the scene photos - huhuh scary! ANother part I like is the flying Pocong - that's something new and different as Pocong is always known to be jumping around not fly!

What I don't understand and can't relate are the other ghosts that the character saw in the movie - how do these other ghosts relate to the event of Tali Pocong Perawan and why does the character see them too? A scare once in a while is always good for a healthy adrenalin rush but this movie just failed to give me that. Another disapointment indeed.

Nasi Ayam On The Run

Sayangnye Mereka KEDEKUT Sambal

Esso on the Run serves surprisingly delicious Nasi Ayam on our last visit there. Unfortunately when we came back the week after the chicken didn't taste as good. Basically it's all about qulity control. The second time we came ayam dia macam dah berhari rasanya. Keras whereby the first time we tried it tasted fresh and juicy - mesti masa tu baru prepare.

Shown here with Black Pepper Chicken

But like any nasi ayam, for me the deliciousnes lies on the sambal. Memang sedap sambal kat On the Run Cafe ni tapi masalahnya you cannot ask for extra and will have to pay kalau nak. For take aways a small tub besar Coleslaw KFC yang kecil tu harga dia 90 sen. Tapi sedap punya pasal and because one will never be enouh for Kal El bila makan nasi ayam, mesti la beli.

The Set come with Ice Cream

Di On the Run Cafe Esso Station ni ada berbagai set - bukan nasi ayam aja. Another worth trying is their nasi lemak bungkus (Esso MRR2 kat junction nak naik BUkit Antarabangsa tu) sambal dia boleh tahan and their hot dog is nice.
This nasi ayam set we had was for two. Complete meal. Selalu kalau Kal El dan KN tak tau nak makan apa, ni la one of the places kami akan pi. Atau masa-masa poket kemarau nasi lemak kat sini la jadi mangsa. Makan 2 ke 3 pun still affordable. Hehehehe...

Someone has Another New Toy!

Ada orang tu beli PDA phone baru. Well not la so new sebenarnya dah bermingu gak tapi Kal El baru je dapat peluang tayang kat sini. No not me, bukan Kal El tapi KN yang beli. Kal El masih setia dengan Nokia N95 ni. Hehehe nanti-nanti la nak tukar pun bukan sekarang sebab N95 Kal El ni elok lagi. I am eyeing on iPhone kot tapi tunggu Maxis bawak masuk la agaknya. Tu pun tak pasti nak beli ke idak, banyak factor nak kene consider especially now kan. Memang dia nak phone. KN earlier on wanted the diamond punya (yang camera dia segi-segi - rasanya macam yang Dr Shah beli) tapi Kal El tak suka dengan shape dia. Furthermore this one slides up and down bising betul phone yang ni. Bukak sket bunyi, tutup pun bunyi hehehe. Kalau Kal El memang suka la bunyi-bunyi ni alangkan jam tangan pun dulu guna yang ada 6 alaram dan boleh compose alarm dia - Casio Baby G Mummy Kal El belikan for my birthday - ada lagi Kal El simpan and still works well.
I kinda like this new phone yang KN beli ni perhaps sebab it runs on Windows and rasa sesuai la untuk KN tapi yang Kal El tak berapa kenan is that kene pakai 2 tangan nak menjawab sms sebab kene guna keyboard QWERTY tu. Sungguh dangerous masa driving. Apa-apa pun sayang, hati-hati la ya? Muahs!

4BIA

Got to know about this movie from a blog I read recently. Sounded convincing and scary and the website was as convincing too. There are four stories in one - an Alfred Hitchcock styled short films - horrific but rather disappointing because of the lack of care for a good subtitle. If I understood Thai perhaps the story would have been better enjoyed. Padan muka for getting a pirated copy of the movie but what the heck, it's not Malaysian.

Thr first story (Happiness) is about SMSing - a girl in crutches had to stay home and got bored and hooked up with a stranger in the chatroom - they exchanged mms and later the ghost of a man who apparently was involved in the accident that had caused the girl to be in cruthces got her and she too died. It was a simple scare but rather startling but as I mentioned earlier, the crappy subtitles pissed me off and had me on the verge of switching the movie off.

The second instalment (Tit for Tat) is rather silly but with an interesting storyline. Why do I say silly? Because the ghost was so unreal but the concept was good - you see how you die from a book (I suppose from hell) Couldn't undeestand this part much but the second story started with a bullied kid got killed and then everybody involved in the killing was killed by the 'demon'.

The third movie (In the Middle) is more interesting. A group of four teenage guys were out camping and met with an accident on a white water rafting tragedy. They were before that night talking about something about sleeping in the middle (therefore the title I guess - thanks to the crappy subtitles, I just assume this is the story) In the accident they lost a friend and returned to their tent. That night that one friend returned. The twist and what made this story nice was in the end they all discovered that everyone had actually died in he accident.

The Last Fright is about a stewardess working on a flight for a princess of a coutry - the storyline was illogical but the ghost was interesting and scary. The fact that I was vomiting for the past week made this story more interesting as the vomiting sounded familiar - hehehe silly me!

All in all if the movie had come with a better English or Malay subtitle, KN and I would have definirtely enjoyed it more - and if we had bought an originl copy (which we would if we have found one before finding the pirated copy) things may have been better for us. Lesson learnt - jangan beli pirated stuff. But again, not Malaysian so hehehe...sorry lah.
